The CS:GO Market Has Probably Reached Its Peak

The CS:GO market price is driven by supply and demand. In recent months, bots buying too many cases have driven the price up. However, if you inspect recent case prices, you can see that they have sharply dropped off. Despite this, prices are still not back to their original 3 cent level.

Who Is Buying These Cases?

As a small experiment, I sold some of my cases and found that the profiles that bought them look really suspicious. Here are some examples:

Account Number 1

The first account bought a total of 182 Dreams & Nightmare Cases. The user hasn't set up their profile yet, and there is no information about them on Steam.

Account Number 2

This account is also private, but the inventory is public. It looks more legit, as the user owns a total of 708 cases (nearly 1k € in inventory value). At least they own a storage unit with the name “cases,” so it looks like they are some kind of collector with too much money.

Account Number 3

The third account looks like one of the suspects driving this price hike. The account is level 1 with no profile picture and only 46 hours played. CS:GO is the only game owned by the account, and they own 435 cases worth a total of €350, all of them being Snakebite Cases.

Account Number 4

This account has an anime profile picture and is Steam level 1. The account has one friend and only owns 470 cases and not a single skin.

These accounts seem a lot like bot accounts used to manipulate the price or for long term storage. They all share similar features like Steam Level, Playtime, and owning only cases.
